Google Home is actually for kids!
We got our first Google Home shortly after it was available on the market in November of 2016. After plugging it in and setting it up, it was clear that it would be a welcome addition to the household. At the time, we mostly played music on it and used it to set alarms and timers, but we quickly learned how to listen to the news and get weather updates by starting our day with a simple “Of Google. Good morning.” Our Google collection grew very rapidly when Staples ran a promotion to get a free Google Home Mini with any purchase of $150. It just so happened that Staples…

How to build a baller library for your kids
I don’t know about you, but around here we get our read on. I’ve been an avid book pusher since before my little ones could hold their heads up and it seems to be paying off with our three year old (TBD with our six month old ;-)). He can read at a very basic level and knows a ton of sight words. More importantly though, he just absolutely loves his “bookies.” Although he no longer naps, he spends an hour and a half to two hours in his room, quietly looking at his books. A stack of books accompanies us on each road trip and he enthusiastically (but quietly…

5 Ways to deal with a Psycho Toddler at Bedtime
Man. I don’t know what your house is like around 6 pm, but I can try to paint you a picture of mine. Have you ever seen “The Shining?” you know, the one where Jack Nicholson axes down the bathroom door with a “here’s Johnnnnnny!” Picture that, except replace the adult-man psychopath with a manic, over-tired drunk on life toddler, bursting open the bathroom door, spilling milk everywhere while trying to tackle me into the shower. “I tried to school you dowwwn!” he proudly giggles, stomping out of the bathroom as quickly as he had stormed in. My son’s most recent favorite expression, meaning basically he tried to take me…

What’s it like to have a baby during the pandemic?
To sum it up, it’s a lot. A lot of worry, a lot of anxiety, a lot of accepting things that are out of your control. In March of 2020, New York City was paralyzed by Covid-19. Field hospitals were set up in Central Park. The wailing of ambulances filled the air from sun up to sun down. The state and many parts of the country went into an unprecedented lockdown. I was roughly 12 weeks pregnant. My previously bubbling over joy, excitement and still-lingering nausea were quickly replaced by anxiety and fear. News had just broken that pregnant women delivering in New York would be required to give birth…

I Can Show You the World
Before I was a mommy, I was a traveler. A backpack- wearing, hippy hostel lodger evolved into a suitcase-rolling (still overpacking and hauling that backpack), decent hotel guest. After my husband discovered the world of points and miles, all bets were off. We went everywhere, flew first class, sipped Dom Perignon and Krug and stayed in all the nicest places. In 2018, baby made three and we didn’t slow down (don’t worry, the Champagne did). Before our son turned two, he had been on 90 flights, visited Hawaii more times (4) than most people will in a lifetime, made his rounds to meet family members across the country and napped…

Adventures of a Mommy on the Move
Welcome to me site! Who am I? That depends on who you ask. If you asked me, I might say that I am host to a super travel bug, professional baby wrangle, tantrum causer (and fixer), picker-upper of messes, packer of suitcases, cleaner of all things and wife of the writing man. Come on in, the water's fine.
